Why can a gas dryer tumble without producing heat?
If you smell gas or otherwise suspect a natural-gas leak, leave immediately instead of operating a control or repeating the dryer cycle. PHMSA says to avoid engines, flames, telephones and electrical switches in the suspected leak area, then call 911 from well away. Do not restart the dryer, open a panel or return for another test while a leak is suspected.
