What the Xfinity example says
Xfinity says a temporary line may provide service while underground work is pending; it is removed at completion. Check status or delays with the provider. Xfinity, “When an underground cable line needs to be installed or replaced”.
This Xfinity workflow does not confirm completion or route at your property, or another provider’s duty or schedule. Appearance alone does not identify an unknown line or who owns it.
Start with records already available
Gather the provider name, order or service reference, any message saying the line is temporary, dates or stage updates already received, and photos already on hand. Note what the provider actually confirmed versus what is still unknown. Do not go outside to trace the cable, inspect a marker, or take a new close-up photo.
Ask the provider for a written status
Contact the provider through a channel shown on your existing order or account. Ask for current stage, remaining work, any delay, the next update, temporary-line removal, and a written completion record. Save the response and reference number; do not assume an unconfirmed date.
Report concerns without handling the line
If you have already observed damage or an unsafe concern, report it to the provider through a verified contact channel and keep clear; do not touch or move the cable to investigate. For an immediate emergency, seek appropriate emergency help. Keep the provider’s response with the order; treat unanswered questions as unresolved.
